Membership Information and Deeming

calendarMembership is calendar year based. The CEAV has extended the membership categories for 2013 and 2014. The categories and prices are listed below:

CEAV Membership 2013 & 2014

  • Professional, Associate, Standard & Affiliate $250 including GST
  • School/Organisation for up to 3 memberships $550 including GST
  • School/Organisation for up to 5 memberships $1000 including GST
  • Interstate membership any category $230 including GST
  • International membership $60 no GST

To apply for Professional and Associate membership you must be deemed Professional or Associate (there is no deeming required for Affiliate membership). You may apply for deeming at the same time as applying for membership.

Deeming 2013 and 2014

You will only need to use these forms if you are a current financial member of the CEAV. New and renewing members to the CEAV can apply for deeming at the same time as they apply for membership (the deeming form is included in the membership form).

Deeming Guidelines Update 2013: The deadline for deeming via Alternative Pathways has been removed. You may apply for deeming via standard or alternative pathways at any time.

Membership Categories

Professional Membership

School career practitioners responsible for career education in schools, and professional career practitioners involved in career development that meet the minimum CICA qualification under the Professional Standards, or are approved by the CEAV Executive to be eligible to be deemed at Professional level in accordance with the CEAV Alternative Pathway policy. This policy is based upon the ‘Alternative Pathway to Professional Status Policy and Procedures’ developed by the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA).

Benefits for Professional members:

  • 5% discount on Bookroom Items (excluding student workbooks), in addition to membership discount
  • 10% discount on Professional Learning (excluding the conference) in addition to membership discount
  • Member lounge login to the CEAV website
  • CEAV Journal (option for electronic journal, print journal will have no additional cost for 2013, from 2014 onwards there will be an additional cost for a print journal)
  • Echo Enews

Associate Membership

Career practitioners who work in a career development field and who meet the CICA entry-level qualification for Associate status, or are approved by the CEAV Executive to be eligible to be deemed at Associate level in accordance with the CEAV Alternative Pathway Policy. This policy is based upon the ‘Alternative Pathway Policy and Procedures’ developed by the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA); and Career practitioners in training as approved by the CEAV Executive.

Standard Membership

An individual with no careers qualifications in the Careers position in a school. A Standard member is not recognised as a career practitioner by the CEAV.

Affiliate Membership

The Affiliate Membership is open to individuals who are not in schools but who subscribe to the vision, mission and objectives of the CEAV; and agree to abide by the rules and regulations applicable to all members of the CEAV. The professional standard requirements are not applicable to this membership level.

A member from a state other than Victoria and from any member category.

Credit Card Payments

The CEAV now offers the facility to pay memberships by credit card. To pay by credit card visit the following website:

Before paying by credit card you must have a CEAV tax invoice. You will be required to input your invoice number (located under the logo on the invoice) before you can pay by credit cart.
