Launch of the New CEAV Website

CB director

Welcome to the new website!

Over the past few months we have been working on a new website for the CEAV, and this is it! Information from the old website has been consolidated and updated.

The site has also undergone some major structural changes, this is to help our members and visitors to find the information they need as well as to help us maintain the site.

New features and major changes of the site include:

  • Calendar of Events - This calendar replaces the Diary and Professional Learning sections of the old website (we still have a Professional Learning section but this will no longer advertise any event dates). The Calendar of Events has ab extended range of careers events advertised and will now show events from other organisations. A new feature allows event providers to request that their event be placed on the CEAV calendar.
  • Careers Resources - The resources page has had a major overhaul. Resources have been updated and old resources removed. Resources have been categorised according to intended audience (students, practitioners etc). This will make resources easier to find.
  • Bookroom - the bookroom has moved out of the resources page and now has its own dedicated page. On this page we provide a catalogue of all items in the bookroom. Online order form is available to order from the bookroom.
  • Biennial Conference registration - the Biennial Conference now has its own section on the website, from this section you will be able to access programs and information about the conference. Registration for the conference has now been moved online, you can access the registration form from the Biennial Conference section.
  • Publications - the CEAV Journal section has been renamed Publications. This section provides information about both the Journal and the Echo (the email newsletter of the CEAV). This section will also provide online archive of  previous Journal articles and Echo editions. Journal article submission has been moved online, you can now submit a journal article via the online submission form in the Publications section
  • Blogs - The CEAV staff members now have the ability to create a weblog or blog about issues relating to career education and career development in schools.
  • Navigation - We have cleaned up the navigation menu, many pages have been renamed and reorganised, this is to make finding the desired information easier. We have also included two alternative ways to navigate the site. The 'Navigate By Category' menu allows visitors to find all material relating to a particular category. Finally we have a site wide search option.

The major improvement to the site (and the feature we are most excited about) is online member registration and member login. Members of the CEAV will have a username and password which will provide them access to member-exclusive content and functionality.

Here are the new site features only available to members:

  • Subscriptions - the CEAV currently provides the ECHO email newsletter and we are looking at expanding this to include bookroom catalogue emails and upcoming events notification. All CEAV emails will be on a subscription basis, members can decide which email newsletters they wish to receive, and they can do this from their account page on the new site.
  • ECHO archive - We will make available an archive of previous editions of the ECHO newsletter
  • Comments - Some pages will allow members to post comments about the information presented on that page, alerting CEAV of corrections, updates or questions.
  • Member's only resources - the Career Resources page has a section accessable only to members. In this section we will provide resources such as powerpoint presentations from prfessional learning, policy documents, career education planning materials.
  • Photo Album - Includes a bank of photos from CEAV events and functions. These photos will be displayed on the website for members only to view. The photo album can also show these photos as a slideshow.
  • FAQ - Members gain access to a database of frequently asked questions by our members. Members also have the ability to submit a question relating to careers and career education and it will be posted on the FAQ page with an answer
  • Resource Index - We have begun compiling an exhaustive index of online careers resources. This list will be far more extensive than the Careers Resource section, and ordered alphabetically for ease of navigation. Members can submit resources to be included on the index.

The CEAV is in the process of moving as many of our resources and practices online, this new website is just the begining. We hope to offer online registration for all our events. It should be noted that we will not be offering online payment and online transcations. Members and vistors who register for paid events (eg the Biennial Conference) will be emailed a Tax Invoice for payment.

Most of the work has been done to the structure and features of the new website, we are still building content. Members can contribute to the website by providing resources for the index and questions for the FAQ.

It is our hope that this new website will allow us to deliver more services to our members and build up a career development knoweldge base in Victoria. We have the potential to build a vibrant online community, so we encourage all our members to login and give the new site a whirl.

Introducing CBs

This week we are also introducing our new mascots - Career Beans (or CBs for short). The CBs and all their different careers are scattered all over the website, see if you can find them all.
