CEAV 2009 Biennial Conference December 6 to December 8 Deakin University Waurn Ponds Campus Geelong - Dare to Challenge Dare to Change Call for Submissions to run Workshops/Industry Panels/Papers

The CEAV is calling for interested members and affiliates to offer a workshop, be part of a panel presentation, or submit a paper for the 2009 Biennial conference to be held at Deakin University Waurn Ponds Campus Geelong from Sunday December 6 to Tuesday December 8 2009. It is anticipated that there would be between 250 and 300 delegates at this conference. The conference is being developed around four key themes:

  • School practice and change management: aims to explore how career practitioners can effect change in their schools to implement career development culture
  • Better career conversations: will examine how career practitioners can improve their counselling through counselling techniques that handle large cohorts of students.
  • Changing patterns of work: explores new and emerging industries, skill shortages, preparing students for future patterns of work.
  • Culture counts: continuing on from our 2007 theme, we explore how career practitioners can examine their practice to ensure they meet the needs of all their students.

Workshop Presentations: 60 minutes duration, approx 30 - 40 participates per workshop, interactive focus preferred.
Workshops will need to offer practical ideas or resources for career practitioners to implement in their schools. An equal spread of careers education, counselling, VET in schools, VCAL, MIP's, LLEN and LCP activities are required. We will also promote workshops that align to the National Standards for Career Practitioners please indicate which standard your workshop, panel presentation, or paper will cover. Joint submissions from communities of practice (schools, LLEN, LCP's, RICA's, employers, parents, VET Clusters etc) would be very well received. Can include special emphasis on themes that explore emerging career pathways in environmental and sustainable careers.
Industry Panels: 90 minutes duration, approx 30 - 40 participants. Four panelists per industry.
Industry panels will occur on Day 2 of the program. They will cover four key industry areas:

  • ICT and careers
  • Health Industry pathways
  • Community and Social Justice industries
  • Transport, Logistics and Supply Chain industries

Industry submissions can also include communities of practice for the listed panels.
