Check out the highlights from the 2017 CEAV One-Day Conference, held at the Melbourne Polytechnic campus in Greensborough.

President's Welcome

Welcome to the 2019 CEAV Biennial Conference official site.  As we approach the end of another decade, we should be very proud of the achievements of the association in lifting the profile of career education in our schools. Our continued advocacy work for members has seen the development of exciting and transformative policies in career education. The Victorian government is spear-heading improvements for career education in our schools and with this in mind, this year the Committee of Management has decided to focus the conference on Good career practice in schools - joining the dots.

The 2019 conference is an all-Australian review of good practice in our schools.  We will explore quality practice in delivery, methodology and in theory.  Our keynote speakers from across Australia will provide the solid foundational knowledge in what constitutes quality career education in schools.

Good careers practice in schools, features a full program of expert keynote speakers, practical and theory-based workshops, technology labs and masterclasses all geared to exploring what makes for good practice in career education in our schools.  We are reminded of the critical role career practitioners have in ensuring that career development programs in schools encompass career education, vocational assessment and careers counselling in the sound preparation of students towards their preferred future goals.

Delegates will also be provided with an update from the Career Industry Council of Australia on  Phase II of the Professional Standards and hear about current national and international approaches to career education in our schools. Recent system initiatives will be presented allowing conference participants an opportunity to reflect on their practice and the programs available to their students.
Following on from a very successful conference in 2017, we are pleased to partner once again with our host for this year’s program The University of Melbourne, Parkville. Delegates will be treated to three days of immersive educational experiences on campus surrounded by their career colleagues and the very best in intellectual stimulation. We encourage all members to attend and take the opportunity to explore everything that the university and Melbourne has to offer.

On behalf of the CEAV Committee of Management, we hope you enjoy the program and we encourage you to bring your colleagues, teachers and leadership team to this year’s conference as we explore good career education practice in our schools.

I look forward to welcoming you on campus.

Best regards
Mae Batrouney
