General Conference FAQs

What are the Conference dates?

The 2019 Conference is a 3 day conference that will take place on:

  • Wednesday 27 November
  • Thursday 28 November
  • Friday 29 November

 

Who attends the CEAV Conference?

The conference is attended by people from the following groups:

  • 350+ Career practitioners in schools. Including career counsellors, Managed Individual Pathways Coordinators, Pathways Brokers, Transition Administrators, and Career Education Teachers.

  • Specialist school career practitioners

  • VET, VCAL Teachers and Level Coordinators

  • Parents and members of the public

  • Assistant principals and school leaders

  • Local Learning and Employment Network Officers

  • Youth Connection providers

  • Employment brokers

  • Student Recruitment officers

  • State Government personnel

  • Employment groups

  • Apprenticeship officers

  • Private Career Practitioners

The CEAV Conference is open to the general public and is a MUST ATTEND event for anyone interested in improving their career development knowledge and services for young people in education and training.

Will there be disabled facilities available at the venue?

It has been several years since I last attended a CEAV Conference/It is my first time attending a CEAV Conference - How will I know what to do?

There will be plenty of information on the Conference website. You will receive lots of information at registration and CEAV staff will be available at the conference desk at all times to assist you and answer your questions. You will be provided with clear instructions, program times and maps in your registration pack and you will have time to network with other careers practitioners as well.

 

How can I feel a part of the Conference if I am not attending?

There will be articles and reviews in the Journal and the e-newsletters.

Some presenters presentations and materials may be made available after the conference.

How do I register for the CEAV Conference?

You can register for the CEAV Conference via the Registration page on this website.

 

How much does it cost to attend?

Details about delegate fees can be found on the Registration page

 

How do I pay for the Conference?

Payments for the Conference are not made during registration. Once you complete the registration process an invoice will be emailed to you. It is your responsibility to pay this invoice before you attend the Conference.

The CEAV accepts the following methods of payment:

  • Credit Card
  • Cheque or Money Order
  • Bank Transfer
  • Purchase Order

 

What is included in my Conference registration?

A full 3-day registration with accommodation includes two breakfasts, two lunches and refreshments breaks, as well as addmittance to all conference sessions and keynotes occurring across the three days.

A 1-day registration includes two lunches and refreshment breaks as well as admittance to all conference sessions occurring on that day.

You may also choose to attend the Conference Awards Dinner and The University of Melbourne Cocktail Campus Tour.

 

Can I register on the day?

No, you can not register on the day. All registrations must be completed before you attend the conference.

Registrations for the conference close at midnight on Sunday 17 November 2019. 

 

Do I have to register for all three days of the Conference?

No, 1 day registration packages are available.

 

Can I share my Full Conference Registration with another person?

You may not split your full conference registration with another person. Delegates who only wish to attend one day of the conference must register as a 1 day delegate.

 

Can I just attend one session on one day of the Conference?

No. The minimum registration for the conference is a single day registration package which covers one full day's conference attendance. Delegates cannot register to attend a single session or a half day session.

 

Do I choose which sessions I want to attend in advance?

Yes. During the registration process you will be asked to select which sessions you would like to attend.

 

My schools wants to send four or five delegates, are there any discounts?

Yes. The discount rate applies to schools/organisations with more than one person attending. Contact the CEAV Office admin@ceav.vic.edu.au for a school group booking discount.

 

How can I book accommodation?

On campus accommodation is booked during the registration process.

 

Can I cancel my registration?

All cancellations must be sent to rmartins@ceav.vic.edu.au in writing via email before the cancellation can be processed. Cancellations are not deemed recieved until you have recieved a return email as written confirmation. 

If you have not recieved acknowledgement within five (5) business days, please contact the CEAV on 9433 8000.

If the cancellation is not recieved in writing, the registration fees will not be cancelled and full registration will still be payable.

Cancellations made before midnight on Thursday 31 October 2019 will incur a $50 administration fee.

 

What is the cancellation cut-off date?

Cancellations recieved in writing to rmartins@ceav.vic.edu.au by midnight on Sunday 31 October 2019 will be accepted with all fees refunded minus a $50 administration fee.

Cancellations recieved after between Friday 1 November 2019 and midnight on Sunday 17 November 2019 will have 50% of fees refunded and will incur a 50% cancellation fee. Transfer of your registration to another person is acceptable. The full name and address details of the new delegate must be advised in writing to rmartins@ceav.vic.edu.au five (5) business days prior to the commencement of the Conference.

Online registrations recieved by the Conference Team are considered to be confirmed by the delegate. No tentative bookings will be accepted.

 

If I need to cancel my registration after the cancellation date, can another person from my organisation attend in my place?

Yes. Such changes must be advised to rmartins@ceav.vic.edu.au in writing via email, no later than five (5) business days prior to the commencement of the Conference

 

Can I get a refund if I do not attend the Conference?

No refunds will be made for non-attendance at the Conference and any unpaid registration fees will still be payable.

 

In the case of medical emergency which has caused a registered delegate to not attend the Conference, the Conference Team must be provided with a medical certificate or appropriate documentation before any refund will be considered. Where the Conference Organisers are advised of a situation after the Conference, and a refund is deemed appropriate, the delegate must still pay the administration fee along with any catering charges incurred as a result of their registration for all catering events at which they were scheduled to attend.

 

Cancellations made before midnight on Thursday 31 October 2019 will be refunded entirely but will incur a $50 administration fee.

Cancellations made from Friday 1 November 2019 until midnight on Sunday 17 November 2019 must pay 50% of the total registration cost.

Cancellations made from Monday 18 November 2019 will not be refunded.

 

Can I cancel my accommodation booking?

Accommodation Cancellations made after midnight on Sunday 17 November 2019 will incur a cancellation fee equal to 100% of the total accommodation fee. No refunds will be made for non-attendance and any unpaid accommodation fees will still be payable.

Please contact rmartins@ceav.vic.edu.au in writing via email, if you need to cancel your accommodation.

 

CPD and Program FAQs

How do I recieve CPD hours for this Conference? Will I recieve a certificate?

CPD’s will be automatically logged on to your CEAV CPD Trackers.

You will be provided with a Certificate of participation on request.

 

How many CPD hours are given for attending the full Conference?

Attending all three days of the conference will provide you with 15 hours of CPD across the seven CICA core competencies.

 

My career counselling skills are up to date, but my technical skills are lacking. Will the Conference have anything for me?

The Tech Labs are back for this conference. This year we have three Tech labs covering topics and technologies which will be of interest to career practitioners. Space is limited so book early.
